The Glenwood Canyon trail is 18 mile long paved trail, rated as easy. A wildlife rich area, beautiful and lush, it winds along the Colorado river, through the red rocks of Glenwood Canyon from Glenwood Springs to Dotsero.

The trail ascends from 5,900 feet to 6,200 and is open and heavily used from May through October, with sections possibly closed due to high water in late spring.

Four rest areas were built in the canyon: No Name, Grizzly Creek, Hanging Lake, and Bair Ranch. The rest areas accommodate the highway and recreational trail that both run parallel but distinctly separate paths which accommodates the trails wilderness experience.

You can stay at a resort along the trail, inline skate, white water raft, and mountain bike.

The town of Glenwood Springs has several places where you can forget the hustle of home, and ease off into Nirvana, quickly sooth the day's aches.  One of the world's largest and famous Hot Springs open air swimming pool, of natural hot mineral water. The Hot Springs Pool is tastefully developed and the temperature is not-too-hot and not-too-cool.

A short walk from the pool is the Yampa Spa and Vapor Caves, A place I visited as a teenager while on a ski tour with my Dad through Colorado. I remember walking down into the vapor caves, a series of underground rooms, or caves. I sported a towel that was quickly saturated with the humid vapors from the hot subterranean water that winds its way through.

I have been looking for years for a reason to return, now this all sounds pretty good! Plus Amtrak goes there.
