Tuesday June 8th, 2004 There were about 7 or 8 of us departing from the fire station N. of OMSI. We skated toward the convention center near where the yellow MAX line starts. We didn't actually skate on the tracks or even between them, but due to the construction of the tracks, there was generally smooth pavement on the roads and sidewalks along it. Except for yellow bumps on the curb cuts which apparently are there to aid visually impaired people. Those are a real pain to skate over and they seem to be everywhere. A nice touch is the light telling us it's o.k. to cross the street along the MAX line counts down the remaining time to the light change. At the entrance to the Adidas campus, instead of a sign that says "no skating" (or more improperly "no rollerblades"), the sign says "skate carefully". Wooo Hooo! That's a welcome I haven't felt in a long time skating on the grounds of a business. Jan was our leader and she did a good job of selecting a route and some little offshoots into interesting neighborhoods, such as the Mississipi business district, or whatever it's called. Maria |
